What is Active 8-16?
The programme is a ‘Sport and Physical Activity on Referral Initiative’ available to young people. The aim is to increase long term participation in sport and physical activity by raising awareness of the benefits of sport, physical activity and healthy lifestyles to young people and their families.

What do we want to achieve from Active 8-16?
We would like young people to receive a safe and effective introduction to sport and physical activity and be encouraged to continue to take part beyond the referral period, empowering clients to take control of their health and address lifestyle issues.

Who is referred onto the programme?
The programme is aimed for young people aged 8-16 who suffer from social, emotional and physical difficulties, these can include:
Diabetes (controlled)
Asthma
Obesity
Eating Disorders
Obsessional Compulsive Disorders
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Depression/Anxiety
Low Confidence/Self Esteem
Learning disability
Cerebral palsy

Young people are referred to the Active 8-16 programme through Child Health Professions. These include:
Physiotherapists
Paediatric Dieticians
Occupational Therapists
School Nurses
Psychologists
Social Workers
Paediatricians
Behaviour Support Team
Youth Workers
Support Workers

The young person will be referred for 10 "FREE" sessions of sport or exercise under the supervision of an experienced and qualified coach.

Basix Wrestling has a fully operational and fully fitted out wrestling unit based at Unit 4B, Dock Road, Connah's Quay, Flintshire, CH5 4DS
This unit is where Basix wrestling teach all aspects of professional wrestling.
The unit is perfect for people who would like to learn to wrestle from beginners through to advanced and to gain grades and certificates in line with the British Wrestling Council grading syllabus.
Basix Professional Wrestling can also offer private training sessions to anyone wishing for this service.
